The Malay language course is offered to International Postgraduate and Undergraduate students and is required to PASS to meet the graduation requirements.

Course Admission Rules

  1. All overseas postgraduate students are required to take and pass the Malay language course. The graduation grade for postgraduate students is Grade L which is a passing grade as a condition for graduation. The minimum passing grade for undergraduate students is D.
  2. Postgraduate students who do not have basic knowledge and skills in Malay or Malay is not the main language of the student’s country (national language or official language) are required to take the LMCM1083 course.
  3. Students from countries that use Malay as their main language (native speakers) such as Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia and Southern Thailand are required to take the LMCM1093 course.
  4. Overseas undergraduate students who are in the category of not having basic knowledge or who have basic knowledge of the Malay language are required to take the LMCW2193 course.
  5. This new course offering starts in Semester 1, Session 2019-2020.
  6. Starting Semester 1, Session 2019-2020 as well, international students of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia only need to take ONE (1) course either LMCM1083 or LMCM1093 (subject to admission offer letter). However, old students or students of the previous admission session are still subject to the existing rules which are required to take TWO (2) required courses either LMCM1013 and LMCM1023 or LMCM1053 and LMCM1063 as a condition to graduate.
 

Synopsis of Malay Language Courses

LMCM1083 International Communication Malay Language

This course is offered to international postgraduate students. It aims to enable students to acquire the basic language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in the context of everyday use of the Malay language. This course adopts an interactive learning approach, tutorial, self learning and participation in a language programme.

LMCM1093 Malay Language For Archipelago Students

This course is offered to all international postgraduate students from Nusantara.This course is also offered to those students with similar proficiency from outside of Nusantara. It aims to train students to acquire the verbal, written and communication skills using good and correct Malay language to use. Students will be coached to use Malay language appropirately according to Malaysian context and situation to provide critical information comments, interpretations and opinions based on various resources. Students are also given basic training in writing formal letters and reports. This course adopts an interactive learning approach, tutorials, self-learning and paricipation in a social service activity.

LMCW2193 Malay Communication 2

This course is offered to international undergraduate students. This course trains students to communicate in basic Malay language in  daily  situations. Students will be introduced to speak and write in Malay language. Teaching and learning will be conducted in the form of lectures, tutorials and learning experiences inside and outside classroom. At the end of this course, students should be able to communicate and write effectively using simple sentences with correct grammar in Malay language.

a) Malay Language Course exemption form.
b) Admission offer letter to UKM
c) Receipt from UKM Treasurer.
d) All proofs related to Malay transcripts that have certified true copies.

4. Once all of the above has been received by CITRA, your brother/sister’s application will be processed.
